{i heart my house}

there are many things i love in this world but one of the bigger things is my house. it represents to me that things always happen for a reason and if you want something bad enough, it will come to fruition. when i first bought my house i used to wake up very early in the morning when everything was silent and walk around in the dark and stare at the walls and the amazingness of it all... it is all so light and airy, after all the time spent in tiny apartments in nyc and okc, i could breathe. my house is an eclectic mix of modern and antique touches... lots of old and new mixed together in a very modern space.

here are a few favorite things about my house:
{clockwise from top: my "girl" painting by an oklahoma city artist that I got at an auction, she has no name, but i love her. the end of the hallway to my bedroom that displays my mother's antique dresser that i revamped, my powder bathrooom on the 2nd floor that I painted farrow and ball's #17 light grey.}
{clockwise from top: my antique armoire i bought from a girl in new york who was moving to london and couldn't take it. It was originally painted this wonderful orange color. I painted over it when i moved to okc and still regret it.. alas. bertoia chairs i obsessed over before i finally took the plunge and got them. i heart them alot. spring is here and i have amazing jasmine that grows all over my outdoor patio, the smell is devine! my silk and voile draperies in my bedroom, i love how the light filters through them. }

I also wake up every morning and look at my beautiful grandmother, Memo, in a photograph that hangs in my bathroom. She was a true "steel magnolia" and a very, very stylish woman.
I inherited many pieces in my house from her.
{my photograph of Memo from 1941. it was taken at her parents house in Littlefield, Texas like it says on the back. She always wrote details on the back of photos!}

{ lauren jane gold and blue topaz earrings $65 }

I got a wild hair this morning with the camera and snapped the earrings I've been loving lately that becca made. Memo would love them since they are her favorite colors, light blues and greens. I think i'll print this photo and write on the back "april 30th, 2009... "memo earrings" on new orchid with cashmere pillow in background... photographer: missy"
